ive got a @zavod44 wooden vent tab that is super tight that I cannot get installed on my vent. The Weber vent tab was a bear to get off. I'm afraid I will breat the tab or the vent trying to force the new one on.

I've tried oiling it with no success.

Any tips how to install this tab?  It may be my vent, two different tabs are equally refusing to install on it.

I've successfully installed others without issue. A firm press and it normally snaps into position.

This is an AT vent.  Do there happen to be different tab sizes and thicknesses?

Thanks.

I took a razor and shaved a little out at a time. That seemed to work for me.
Wife said "No more GRILLS in this house!" So I bought a 2nd house!

Good idea. Will try an exacto below the nipples.

lol.  Shaved a little off and it didn't help.  Took afurther look and the issue is that it is too loose, not too tight.  It was bottoming out.  I was expecting it to go a little further down the tab.

At any rate, it now has a little glue on it.  All should be well.

any favorite adhesives or shims, if the glue I used doesn't work or fails?

Thanks.

I second the silicone but I really prefer a mechanical fit. Not sure howw to do that besides maybe a nice looking countersunk screw in the wood that clamps down on the metal tab. May dent the tab though.

Following as the wood tab I had was a nice, tight fit until after the first cook for some strange reason.  Mine is also way too loose now.

I used weldbond glue, from an old bottle I had on hand.

Seems to have worked well with a light application. Been a couple of cooks now.

Nope. It has now failed. Will look for high temp silicone.
