I seem to be the only one who still sears my steak and then moves indirect to reach desired IT... It works for me...
I know someone else who does this also.

You got that right!! Sear then indirect. However I haven’t tried it the other way so maybe I’ll test that out sometime. But I’m usually cooking a lot of sides with the steak and timing it so everything is done at the same time works better with searing it first. Also, I want to sear when the coals are hottest...
