Picanha anyone?
« on: August 30, 2017, 05:09:19 PM »
I recently scored a vintage Weber shish kabob ring & skewer kit recently and decided to put it to use tonight. Picanha aka rump cap aka sirloin cap was on sale for $5.99/lb so I picked up a 3 pounder for diner tonight. During prepping, I realized the Weber skewers were a bit flimsy so I ended up using two skewers for the Picanha chunks.  I couldn't utilize the kabob ring because the fixed holes wouldn't accommodate the two skewers being that close together.  Ended up just laying the skewers directly on the cooking grate indirect to the coals and it worked out perfectly.  I was quite pleased with the end result. The Picanha was super tender, juicy and most importantly delicious.

It was a bit heavy for the flimsy Weber skewers. Gonna try the roti spit next time.
