Brisket Tacos
« on: August 06, 2017, 04:15:54 PM »

Today was taco day for my mom's birthday. Friday's 7lb brisket was chopped further and seasoned in a pan.

Small, "half dollar" corn tortillas warmed in the same pan with brisket grease.

Chopped cilantro, white onion, lime wedges and homemade salsa rounded out the dish.

Here is the final product.

The only thing my parents could muster to say...repeatedly was "mmmm."

I agree. They were fantastic!

Thanks @kettlebb

Mom said she wanted the taco truck style tacos...I tried to deliver. She told me later after dessert the meat was some of the best she has ever had..."smokey and complex."

My wife and son loved them as well. Great thing is we have plenty of leftovers for lunch/dinner tomorrow!

Awesome. We had smoked pulled pork tacos about a month ago. I didn't believe the smoke flavor would blend in well but they were really good. I'm about due for another brisket. Maybe I'll try and find some beef cheeks.

@wessonjb

Absolutely! Super easy. I suggest a fine chop and include some of the fat cap with a mix of flat/point. The fat cap which will reduce down in the pan offering fat needed to fry the meat. Add a couple of shakes of season salt and you're good to go!

Works great for tacos...or even nachos.

Delicious! Almost like a twist on carne asada

Exactly. Similar texture, but more depth of flavor. The richness of the added fat from the brisket works well with the spicy heat of the salsa and the acidity of the lime. The flavors are all familiar, but somehow the brisket elevates the dish.
