Since Hell called and wants its heat back, there was no chance I was turning on the stove. My patio faces west and I don't have a pergola over it yet but that doesn't matter much with the humidity hitting eleventy billion. I've been in cooler saunas.
I bought a bone in ham a while back on clear out sale and started defrosting it yesterday in anticipation of it hitting the grill today. Here it is going on.
And 40 minutes later, ready to be wrapped.
It's going to to get a nice bourbon glaze.
Since we waste no coals here, every coal is sacred and every coal is good, I wrapped the beets I bought at the farmers market this morning. They'll roast on the lower grate.
And here's the gang, ready to join the ham.
I'll round it out with some steamed baby broccoli with lemon butter. That will help cut the sweet.
I've already got plans for the bone too. Got a pot of pintos with its name on it and I know Honeybun will want the beet greens sautéed up for him.
Time to make the glaze!!
