Beer can chicken
« on: July 20, 2017, 08:58:14 AM »
Last week I was with my boss and he mentioned beer can chicken. I hadn't made some in quite a while and decided that an old recipe we had needed to be dusted off and used again. This was from an old Food Network show called "Ham on the street". It is delicious.

Wife prepping the birds. 2-6lb Costco broilers

3/4 of the way through the cook. Had pecan wood on for smoke and Leinenkugels Original for beer.

Result! If you look at the wing on the far right you can see it is starting to separate. As soon as I put my phone down that wing was laying next to the bird. It was simply melt in your mouth chicken. I've never had chicken so tender and juicy, ever.  I did not brine these at all. I had read that the beer can doesn't add much in the way of moisture. You could have fooled me. My wife wants this every week now!

That looks really good. Never made beer can chicken before. Going to try it. Think I found the recipe...even if this is not the one you used it looks like a winner.

That is the recipe. Make sure you put the rub between the breast and the skin.

I've noticed that if I do a good job of sealing the skin over the top of the chicken, it will create a bubble effect and all the steam and moisture is trapped inside the skin. Hard to do, but when it works, it is the best and moistest chicken.

I love doing beer can chicken.  Super easy, chicken comes out super moist, and I get to drink a couple beers in order to cook the meal.

Nice Job!!!
