Cook #5: Independence Day Pulled Pork
« on: July 05, 2017, 01:31:27 PM »
Getting more adventurous and decided to smoke a butt on my Jumbo Joe. I used a house made rub with salt, paprika, chili powder, garlic, and cumin.  I used hickory chunks and a charcoal snake. Long day of tinkering. Turned out really good served with smoked corn on the cob, beans, cast iron corn bread, and mac n cheese.

My snake quit on me around 5 and I had to restart it with new hot coals. This happen to anyone else?

Did the snake go out, or run out of coals?

It was very good. A nice light Smokey flavor and it was very moist and tender. I could never get this type of result from my Genesis. The gas grill is now relegated to quick weekday dinners.

Revisited the pork tonight. BBQ pizza. Smoked butt, red onion,BBQ sauce, and motz cheese. Not a kettle but pizza on the genisis is our new favorite way to make pizza in the summer.
