I have been wanting a weber gasser for a while, but I dont like the look of the new Genesis II line. I have been keeping an eye on the local Craiglist and this Weber Summit popped up for $600. Its more than I need, but seems like a great grill. Is this a Good deal?

That's pretty steep for a 9 year old grill.

What's your dislikes about the new genesis?  And where are you located?

I bought a new one last year thinking it would be a great deal but I have buyers remorse I think the new ones are flat out sexy. Love the return of the open cart

Im located in Indianapolis.

I personally like the look of the closed cart vs the open with the new Genesis. I also wonder if grilling in high winds could be a problem with the open cart.

Closed carts are prone to rusting out easily

This one also just got posted for $350. This size better fits my needs. He says it was purchased summer 2014. Thoughts?

Rust prone carts can be dealt with a number of ways.   Basically, keep it off of concrete, or, if on concrete, put a grill matt down underneath it.   Short version is that concrete will give off fumes that will corrode the bottom of the cart.

$350 is on the upper end for that 3 burner as it doesn't have a side burner (but does have the sear burner).   I'd still see if they would take $300 for it.    If you have the coin and can use the space, that Summit pricing isn't very far off as it was close to $2K when new.   Just be sure that it's in great condition.

I'm pretty sure this is a base 310 model, that has just 3 burners.
You might be confusing the ignition button for a burner knob?

A sear burner would be in between the main burner knobs.

Can't comment on the price. Here in Europe, it would still be a great price.
Over here these go for 800€  :o

Mine is on concrete, but I assumed it was ok since it was on wheels. Thanks for the additional insight!

I figured $350 was not a great deal, and maybe on the top end. I may give it a few days and see if it sells and offer like 250-275.

This is a basic Genny 3 burner, and a small ignitor button on far left. Cast grates, nothing exceptional.
Good grill if taken care of will last for years, I have a 07 S310 closed cabinet with east/west burners, runs perfect .

I bought a 310 Special Edition (all stainless steel internals) new with full enclosed cart. The new Genesis II offers an enclosed cart for damn near twice the price. My local ACE had it for $100 off, I've never used the side burner in my past gassers so that wasn't a big deal. Summit's are exceptional I have heard but the Genesis is a great grill with more built in features.

The price is a little on the higher side but still fair imo. It also depends on your local market.
