Good morning and happy Easter!
« on: April 16, 2017, 06:36:41 AM »
So who has their Easter ham on their kettle this morning? I have a 8.5 pounder on the grill, my wife has a 10 pounder in the oven. I went with a minion method, and a hunk of cherry for good measure. First ham I have ever done on the grill. Needless to say I am excited. So who else has their cook going on right now?

I bought a spiral ham that just needs to be heated at a low setting then glazed. I plan to do it on my weber.

Yesterday I got the coal trays and will use them for indirect heat.

Not this time, but done them for Easter & Thanksgiving a lot.....can't see your pics, but I'm sure it'll be just grand!!!

Good plan to go nice & easy....sort of sneak up on the desired temp/warmth....

I've goofed up a few going too high heat too fast or too much smoke..... :o

Seriously thinking of getting a rotisserie....but would it be just as good to use indirect heat with the hen set vertical down low on the coal grate?  And just rotate the hen every so often to get even browning?

Negative. The rotisserie is worth every penny imo.

Second that.  Get the rotisserie. It really is one of the accessories that you can not replicate.
