When I first saw this 18" MBH on an online estate sale a couple months ago, I wasn't sure what to think.
I was hoping it was just super dusty and those marks were from tape peeling off a layer of crud.  But I had to wait for it to arrive from Michigan to find out.  The lid and bowl came in one box, everything else came in a separate box. It turned out to be an 18" in decent shape, but with an uneven fade due to residue from the lid and bowl being taped together long long ago.  I was able to remove that residue with a scraper pretty easily, but that didn't help the aesthetics at all, so those tape marks are permanent.  NBD, this is what I was after:After the bowl took a dip in soapy water:After the lid took the same dip, you can see the bowl drying and the fade returning:Here's a close up of the fade... so cool up close.Strike a pose.Socializing.This is my first and only faded black and only now can I understand and appreciate their a"peel".

Thanks for looking.

$5.01, gotta make some money, not lose it!  Yeah, totally forgot to mention I paid 5 buckeroos.  I won't say how much it was to ship two boxes from MI to FL cuz it was stupid.

You can't always get what you want....but if you try sometimes you get what you need

Looking for: Red MBH 26"(The Aristocrat), Chestnut-coppertone (The Estate), Glen-blue (The Imperial), and The Plainsman.

Hey Congrats. Honestly, I kind of like the racing strip tape mark. "Every kettle has a story" as @Craig says. Looks like a 77'. If you want to,heat her up and spray some vegetable oil on it. It'll bring the black back for a while or just enjoy the fade. I like it.

This post from @kettlebb made me nickname this faded 18 The Fast and Furious, which is kind of a joke around our house because my wife loves the movies and I think they're just awful.  Anyway, I picked up this Gas Go Anywhere for just $10 and well... one thing led to another....

That's pretty innovative right there! I agree. Those movies are terrible.

Thanks, kettlebb. That single burner really puts out a lot of heat.
