Found this on Craigslist today for $65. Called the guy and he said it has been sitting in his basement for 15 years. That is all I needed to hear. Got in the truck and drove an hour. Once I got there I realized the grill was a little rougher than the guy had initially told me. I tried to negotiate the price down a little but the guy refused. Said he had a ton of phone calls and one guy told him it was a collector's item. After opening the lid I found mold. And was able to negotiate the price down to 60. I also did find a few accessories.

it is a 1977 kettle, that's when the new style wheels started and the small lid tabs ended. 1978 lid vent had big tabs to match the bowl. It'll clean up nice PLUS a corn n tater ring, win win    congrats
drink a little drink, smoke a little smoke    8)
It's not just a grill, it's a WEBER

Looks like it's in really good shape. I'd say good deal for sure. I don't know what the strap with hooks is.

Congrats on the score! My guess is that the bar with hooks may be a custom grill tool holder?  How do you deal with the mold issue? Burn a real hot fire then razor blade?

Exc. score. CnT ring a great bonus.

Hot fire will take care of the mold.

That's certainly a good pick up.  Once you put a shine to her it's going to look awesome.  As for a drought, I'm on a road trip which is taking me all over Mass and through Vermont.  I've never expanded my "Weber" "Grill" search to the geographic locations Ive included on this trip and I'm coming up with nada and I've been looking for a couple weeks in anticipation of this road trip.

I'm looking forward to the clean up photos on your brownie!
