Tim

The wheels look like they are in great shape. I would like to see pics on how you restore the hardware. Keep up the good work. Thanks

Thanks Tim, will do. Brian, yes you are welcome to it. No need to bring the truck, I can send it. AJ, yes all of the parts are there, but it does need some special attention.

Well today I made some progress. I finished the sanding on the cart and got out the nail gun and reset some of the board that were loose. I also put some of the parts back on after a clean up.

After the sanding rubbed it with tongue oil rather than varnish and stain. I think it gives it more of a natural look.

I also cleaned and reinstalled the ring that the bowl sits in.

Then the towel rings. These cleaned up pretty well.

This is the absolute worst bowl I have ever had to repair and clean.

The vents just fell out. :o

Look at the holes in the sides. :o

For some reason I can't upload pictures of the bowl and lid insides. I will get them here later but the straps are rusted out. It looks like they were used as a toilet. :D

Not to fear, i'll have this thing up and running in a few more days. ;)

Up and running, Perfect! I think they used it as a fire pit. :o Rust out looks like where the grate holders are at?

Thanks, GL and Sparky! I have done the first cleaning on the lid and bowl since posting earlier. I have to do another full cleaning again. They were that bad! This is the first time I have ever had to do a full double cleaning. It's gonna be nice though. I will see if Aj can post the inside of the bowl and lid tonight, so keep a watch. ;)

Heyjude

Here you go.. Thank goodness you are better at Webers than computers!  8)

Thanks again for the help Jude, I almost threw up again after seeing those! :o

Now notice the straps are rotted off, I mean gone! I might need to see if I have an extra set or canabalize another grill for a set. In case some of you haven't notice, I thrive on significant basket case grills.  :D This ones gonna be awesome! ;)

Craig

It's coming along nice! Since the center holes for the vents have rusted through, whats the best way to re-fasten them?

glrasmussen

What's amazing is how well the cart held up. The bowl, what the H? Do you think ash sat in bowl with no use for use for years to do that?

Duke

Thanks Craig and GL, I am going to put four new straps in and fasten them with bolts that have large washers on the outside that will cover the holes. I think it was probably cased by ashmud.  Ashmud! ;D I think I found a new term for what happens when people leave ashes inside that get wet and ruin a bowl.  I like saying it. ashmud ashmud ashmud.  :D
