Rainy day Abt's
« on: November 18, 2016, 10:32:10 AM »
What a crappy day. Everyone in school or at work, but me. It's my day off. Working in the garage today, checking in periodically with the WKC. What better way to spend the rainy day but with a few abt's on your grill that's parked under the eaves dogging the rain drops, a beer in hand (not a b/l fan but it was free and that's the best kind) and your dog. Before anyone gives me sh#t about her sweater and blanket, she's old and I love her. [emoji41]
Three wheel question for you guys. How do you run your vents for a low n slow? I'm running 250, top open, bottom one under coals closed, two opposite cracked barely. 3/4 basket unlit, 10 lit and put in corner. Minion style. I've heard of guys running all vents open. Just wondering.

Peach wood today

Have a good one fella's!

Great way to spend a rainy day Travis. No worries about the sweater. Gotta keep that girl warm and happy.

Lol, she didn't last too much longer after that. Went back in to lay in her bed.

They look great Travis!  Nice cook.  I know how you feel. You wait all week to play with kettles.  Your day off comes and you won' let weather get in your way.  I totally get it!

I'd be interested how people run their three wheelers too.

Just to give an idea, I ran a 2x2 snake in 50 degree weather with all vents wide open. It ran a steady 290 the entire time. That's where I wanted it for a turkey breast but I'm guessing if I closed 2 of the vents it would have ran steady at 250 or less. Very easy to keep from running too hot.

Also I did baskets in the middle for wings with all vents open and it took about 10-15 minutes longer than with my ots. They are very steady Cookers. I know I'm going to love mine for low and slow when I get the opportunity to test it.
