I had planned this meal, in the hopes that my daughter could secure us a last minute cancellation at the campground she works at. No dice on the campsite, so I cooked at home. I thought about doing this cook on Sunday, which is national cheeseburger day, but already have a cook planned for my mom that day.
I started with 85/15 ground chuck from Sprout’s. I added 1tsp, per pound, of Webers’ “Gourmet Burger” seasoning and made 1/3lb patties.
I rendered the bacon for a bit, in the CI pan, to get some bacon grease going, then onto the grill to finish it off. I used the thick smoked bacon from Sprout’s. Bacon with grill marks?
I sautéed the mushrooms till done and threw the finished bacon on top and moved to the side.
I rearranged the coals to concentrate the heat, then cooked the burgers to medium rare.
The burgers got a thin slice of provolone and topped with mushrooms and bacon. I lightly toasted some brioche buns I found at Sprout’s. These are the best hamburger buns I have found around here! I made some of my home made macaroni salad for the side. The mac salad is pretty simple, with celery, green onion, mayo with salt and pepper to taste.
The burgers carried over to more medium, while I fooled around taking pics, but still very tasty!
Thanks for looking!
