WOW!  Congrats on the Chestnut!  I've been to Washington Island myself...that Chestnut took a ferry ride to get home!  I'm impressed with the condition of that kettle given the harshness of the climate up there.  What a remote place to find a gem like that.
I know right, check out the triangle and wheels. They are in great shape for a kettle this old.

That chestnut is in amazing shape, congrats.
And I have not even touched it yet! Can't wait to see it all cleaned up.

Mr.CPHo

Am I the only one who thinks JDD's friend/acquaintance is kind of a jerk for asking about the SJ's rarity and then not selling to JDD?
Sure, throw the guy a little $$ for picking it up for you, but to refuse your offer to sell to the highest bidder on eBay is kinda shitty IMO.

All, kidding aside, I thought that was a bit of a dick move on the friends part.

Gorgeous Chestnut! I miss that color. Maybe someday again later.

@Mr.CPHo  I have mixed feelings about this. At first I thought he was being a jerk but after thinking about it I realized he really didn't pick the kettles up for me, he just asked my opinion of whether or not he should buy them. Also, he did sell me the Chestnut at a very fair price (well below market value). He also gave me an opportunity to acquire the SJ if I wanted it. And it's not over, he may still cut me a deal.  On the other hand, if he were a close friend I'd be pissed LOL. After all, I smile every time I walk through my garage and look at my Chestnut, so I'm happy.

Congratulations on your Chestnut! My wife and I had our honeymoon in Door County, such a beautiful place.
