Just picked this up off of Craigslist 30 bucks.
Just got home.
Looking at the 68 or 71 catalog it's called a 49'er
Now I need to find an ash pan.

Nice pick up. I have on and it is my favorite cooker - and nice to look at, too.

Started detailing.
I love the orange peel.

Great score, I'd love a black 18 like that
I'm only 2 or 3 kettles away from being that creepy guy down the street with all the Webers

That's a sweet old black! The more time passes the more my appreciation and love for vintage black kettles grows. Especially 80s and earlier with the orange peel texture.

hopelessly, helplessly, happily addicted to a shipload of Webers

Yes! I've added the older black kettles to my want list. They are so awesome.

4/0 steel wool Ajax dish soap and light pressure. They cleaned up really easy. I was surprised how good of shape the wheels are in. I almost didn't want to clean it up. But I was dying to see how well it would clean up.

searching for an 18" twist ash pan.

Yes @Craig , eventually we all grow older and wiser and replace our foolish childhood lust for color with a more mature appreciation of the classics.  ;D
