OTG dome pizza oven

I just found this forum and rather than just lurk I decided to make a few posts.  Last summer I picked up a roadside grill and scavenged the top to make a pizza oven for my OTG.  Following some instructions on the web I cut out the front added a pizza pan in the top to lower the dome and added a stone bolted in so it is a one piece unit.
    The only thing I wonder if I should change is the stone bolted in, as if a pie sticks it is hard to clean, or if as happened one time, I pushed a pie off the back of the stone, what a mess! The first few were horrible!
     I haven't made any pies this year yet, and am running out of summer, I have to slow down and smell the pizza!

Wow.  I think you take first place so far for 2016 for in the blackened pizza crust category!!!!!  I think all of us here have burned a few pizzas as well trying to get things figured out.

As far as your stone goes, I like my stone sitting on the charcoal grate so I can rotate it around as needed to get it evenly heated.  I can see where having it bolted in also makes it hard to clean.  If I am doing lot of pizzas (more than 3) I often take my stone out for a minute or two if it is getting too hot so my crust doesn't cook (burn) too fast.  I would unbolt the stone, but leave some bolts in the lid you you can put your cooking grate in it to hold your stone...if that is possible.  If you check out the KettlePizza website you will see how the cooking grate from the kettle actually sits in the KettlePizza which helps the KettlePizza keep its shape as well raises the grate a few inches.

Take a look at all of the pizza posts here, there are quite a few with a lot of good information in them.  The pizza section was added back in February when a ton of us were getting our new pizza accessories we received at Christmas dialed in.  There are lots of good posts, but especially if you go back to the 4th, 5th, or 6th page of posts...that is where we were all learning from each other!  I think your cutout lid will work as good as any of the pizza accessories and will probably need the same coal/wood setup as we use with our KettlePizza or PizzaQue's.
