Are the charcoal baskets on the 26" the same size as the 22"?  I read where the 26" is large enough to take 4 of them is why I ask.

The baskets are a bit of a compromise size in order to fit 18-26 grills. They "fit" best in a 22 and deliver the kind of controllable heat "most" cookups need there. Only one will fit in an 18 without seriously cramping your cooking space, and with two in a 26 you might not have enough heat for some things.

I'm not saying the baskets won't produce good results in a 26, just noting that the machine does use more fuel.
It's the iconic symbol for the backyard. It's family/friends, food and fun. What more do you need to feel everything [is] going to be all right. As long as we can still have a BBQ in our backyard, the world seems a bit of a better place. At least for that moment. -reillyranch

I haven't done any long cooks on the 26 but for 60-90 minute chicken cooks the 2 baskets provide enough heat for a giant indirect area.

They're not going to work well for long cooks without refueling. But they work just fine for most typical indirect/direct cooks.

But mine have been in the shed since I got the SnS.
