Simple Paella
« on: March 10, 2016, 07:36:54 AM »

Crusty bottom. Just chicken and veggies. Very happy with the results. I'll be playing with this some more.

I know some of you have this pan. Let's see your paella!

Dude, relax your chicken.

It's a 15-16" pan.

The same one others have been picking up at Home Goods, Ross, etc.

$13+/-

That looks great, dazzo!  How high are the sides on that pan?

I hope to someday try Paella on my Manturion Griddle.  It has sides that measure 1¼" high.  That should be high enough, eh?

My pan is just shy of 2" deep.

@MacEggs Your Manturion at 1 1/4" should be plenty deep enough.

The Manturion Griddles must have changed as they got newer. My wood handled one is barely 1/2" deep.

@dazzo , Ya, that could be.  I have noticed on your MG, that the handles go out further.
The ones on mine are shorter and are angled up somewhat, and have the plastic / nylon handles.  Either way, the thing is a beast.  :D :D

Man, that looks great, and I bet that would be a fun cook. Start to finish, what kind of time are you looking at and what kind of heat did you use? Looks good man.

I have the pan and have been thinking about doing this cook for a few weeks now. Most Paella cooks I see, have PEAS in them...not my favorite... :P

Now, seeing that asparagus has me fired up!

Thanks for posting the pics of your cook, looks delicious!

@Travis, I used a Weber chimney full of KBB, spread evenly on the grate.

Put the pan on and went to town.

It was finishing up as the coals were dying out, so it was like turning the heat down to simmer. It worked out well.

@Jason, I think paella is a personal thing. Put whatever you want in/on it. My wife isn't a real big seafood fan, so we probably won't have anything more exotic than maybe some breaded shrimp thrown on top for variety.
Dude, relax your chicken.
