Anyone attempt paella in a cast iron pan?
« on: March 10, 2016, 09:10:18 AM »
The recent paella cooks look unreal and I'd love to give it a shot, but I don't have a paella pan right now and it will be a while before I'm in the market for one.

Are there reasons why a CI would or would not work?

A CI pan would work fine.

Might have to watch it a little closer as it'll hold heat more than the steel pan.

This is one of the best parts about playing with the kettles -- try something and see what happens.

Dude, relax your chicken.

Let us know I it works. I would love to try that as well, but like you have only the black iron. Dont see why it wouldn't.

Hey! I just got home from buying one in the Santa Clarita Home Goods. $9 for one 21" handle to handle. They had one a size bigger for $12, but that looked like it would be a helluva lot of paella.

CI I fine for paella, just scale your amounts down to what you have to cook with.

Cast iron will hold heat too long. It doesn't work for making Paella properly.
