Firing up the RED Wood Dale........
« on: June 07, 2015, 02:44:25 PM »
The kids and friend asked me to cook them some chicken (threw on a steak too).  I told them to pick the grill.   After about 10 minutes of uncovering grills they settled on the '58/'59 Red Wood Dale  aka "Big Tomato".... :)  Sweet old grill and simple cook.....

Looks delicious!
It's the iconic symbol for the backyard. It's family/friends, food and fun. What more do you need to feel everything [is] going to be all right. As long as we can still have a BBQ in our backyard, the world seems a bit of a better place. At least for that moment. -reillyranch

So awesome. I'm wondering about the weber naming. Wood Dale? And such. I've noticed on here people have what seems like model names. Not just sizes.

Wood Dale refers to Wood Dale, IL where the kettles were made from 1958-1964. They have the metal lid handles.

I love those old grills too. I wonder if there's any more good "finds" on Craigslist?
