Chicken Drummies
« on: May 08, 2015, 01:35:19 PM »
My wife and I did chicken drummies seasoned with Buffalo Wing seasoning cooked indirect around the Vortex on the Jumbo Joe and smoked with cherry wood chunks.

Had a few that would not fit on the first round so on round two we also added Big K'z Glaze at the end of the cook. For our hot wing preference the Buffalo Wing seasoning is perfect without sauce, but with Big K'z Glaze wow does it kick up the heat and bring a whole new flavor!

Thanks for looking!

Those look awesome! I'm so hungry right now. Where do you get that thingy in the middle that holds the coals? The vortex you say?

I count about 22 drummies on there, nice looking cook!
It's the iconic symbol for the backyard. It's family/friends, food and fun. What more do you need to feel everything [is] going to be all right. As long as we can still have a BBQ in our backyard, the world seems a bit of a better place. At least for that moment. -reillyranch

Wings look awesome!
In fact the vortex wings always look so great! They almost looked fried, like they've got real crispy skin. It's like that with all you vortex guys, am I wrong or they coming out with extra crispy skin?

If that's the case I'm gonna have to order one. I can good skin without the vortex, but not like fried.

Crispy poultry skin is one of many selling points of a Vortex, it is an excellent cooking tool!

Love my vortex! I've made kettle fried fish and chips with it - awesome crisp. The drummies look delicious.

Flipped them drummies 1/2 way through the cook, did not rotate them.

Are you using the Vortex that Owens just got for the Jumbo Joe, or one of the standard sizes? I just ordered mine for the Jumbo Joe and going to be taking it to the racetrack with me, so I'm pretty excited seeing you made 20 wings on the Joe.

How long did it take for the wings to cook?

This is the mini Vortex in the Jumbo Joe. My wife (Tanya) and I (Marty) are Owens BBQ.
The wings take an hour following the recipe, directions and sample of our Buffalo Hot Wing seasoning we included with your mini Vortex order!
