The claim was that these were original to the grill.

Uh Huh.....so it fell off a cliff & landed on all fours like a cat?

No.  When I got there, one was broken already.

I moved the grill 2 inches and the other three immediately shattered.  "14 years sitting in the same spot."

Which made it easier to load in a compact hatch back at least.  I was assuming I would have to remove the wheels.  The wheels removed themselves.

TexasOnion

mo0re pics  was the bottom rusted out of the grill ?

The bowl is the only piece not in terrible shape.

One vent came off and was bolted back on some years ago.  I have not looked closely but there appears to be no real rust and both grate straps as well as exterior tabs are strong.

The Lid handle is skewed badly and chipped.  It is an F code lid .... but Memories are often imperfect.  The lady claimed it was bought new (in Chicagoland) when their 42 year old daughter was born.  The gentleman agreed.  When I mentioned the lid was from 1984, and was it possible it was a replacement, He said "Maybe we bought it in 1984 then."  Like I said, he also claimed the wheels were original.  They said it came in pieces and they had to assemble it.  It traveled from Illinois, to North Carolina, and Arizona, and it "hosted a lot of parties".

I will have a few questions for other Imperial Sequoia restorers.  Hopefully I can find the time to give this the work it needs.

It looks like snaps were added (probably for some custom cover. I assume that  was a custom job?

I was going to ask if it was a sequoia since it had 4 wheels. The I scrolled down. Congrats.

So I am not in acquisition mode much anymore, but almost every day when I log in to the computer (around 6 am) I run my default CL search.

Usually it yields things I can not justify getting.  This morning ESTATE SALE caught my eye and the last 2 pictures in the ad showed this I.S.  I texted the contact number which was not a local prefix, so I assumed it was a mobile phone.  Meanwhile TexasOnion had found the cl add as well, and sent me a message.  I told him I was already awaiting a reply.  About 45 minutes later I got a reply on my text and we went back and forth arranging a time.  It was an 80 minute drive each way, but naturally worth it.

Both the pan and pan holder are solid.  Original towel rings too.

Unfortunately missing some hinges, as well as the lid holder L brackets.  I hope I can find those or get a master to repro them.

Holy crap, awesome score! You should have led with sequoia in the title somewhere. Can't wait to see this thing restored! Great find

Lawrence (Gummi)  knows where to get the hinges....I have some exact style, but they're offset for an inset cabinet door.....
I believe he put the info in Hank's restoration thread somewhere......

The lid holder is a little daffy anyway....I'm missing that also..... :o
