I pulled out my stash of recipe books today and decided to try something simple and old school. I made burgers with tips from the 1958 Weber cookbook pamphlet. The "twist" to this old favorite come from using pretzel buns instead of regular. I used red onions instead of white (it's what I had in the house) and I added some turkey bacon. (Again, it's what I had in the house) and I do like turkey bacon once in a while for good measure. Of course nothing beats diesel (pig).

Here's the pics... Oh and we also did hot dogs for my son and for lunch at work tomorrow...

Yes... I sautéed the onions on the stove....as most may have done back then. Unless your name was George Stephen of course. ;D

Keeping it old school, I needed a 50s style cooker.

That's good meat! When that happens, that's GOOD MEAT!

All in all it was good eating. I used 2 lbs of hamburger and doubled the salt/pepper/onion ingredients. It was a win! Thanks for looking!

Craig this is an awesome  example of how to have fun with a cookup and write about it too. Antique cookbook, simple recipe, vintage Kettle, and great pics. Classic!

Stop and Shop has pretzel buns, and they are priced good. S&S is also Giant, New England, NJ and NY locations.
