Accessories for Master-touch
« on: January 21, 2015, 06:02:24 PM »
Greetings,

I'm getting ready to pick up the new master-touch kettle.  I'm confused with the Weber's Original Gourmet BBQ System Pizza Stone ($39.99) vs. Kettlepizza ($199.00).

I've seen video's for both units and the Weber's pizza stone seems fine, especially for the price.  Am I missing something about the Kettlepizza?  There doesn't seem to be a difference in the final outcome.

Please help the ignorant!

The Weber one is an insert that fits interchangeably with the wok & sear grate,. etc.

See Here:

The Kettle Pizza is a whole ring that fits onto the kettle as a riser with an opening to slide the pie onto the stone.....

See Here:

Weber's is smaller, but that may not make too much difference if you're making them for a small number of people.......I'm sure with a bit of practice, either will result in great pies !!!!!

charcoal setup helps quite a bit going by what people here have said about it......when you get either setup, just ask....there's some GREAT pizza cooks @ WKC !!!!

Thanks.
I really can't justify paying $200 for an accessory which does the same thing as the Weber's product.   From what I can tell, the Kettlepizza will have a pie done in 4 minutes vs. 10+ minutes using the stone...

Wait just a tiny bit for some of the pizza heads to chime in with thoughts on the matter......I know the more expensive one will cook a bit more even top & bottom, but see what they say about worth & value.......

@MacEggs  & who else uses these?

Could also be that if you're already getting  a new MasterTouch (LUCKY DAWG !!!) then you're  mostly set up for the Weber one anyway.....

I have a WSM which I absolutely love.
To grill, I have a cheap walmart or gas station grill (I forget where I bought it).  But I'm in love with Weber.  So, since I'm gonna buy a kettle (maybe this weekend), might as well get the new Master-touch.  Yeah baby, I can't get to get my grill on.  I have another question but I'll start a new thread for that.

When using the KettlePizza, or the Weber pizza set-up (the one that looks a toilet seat), very high temperatures are common.

With a Master-Touch, one needs to be aware of the high temperatures used and potential melting of the lid bale rollers.

Here is a recent thread with some KP discussion:

Where are you located, TeddyC?  If near Atlanta, here's a NIB Mastertouch for $175.

I'm in Charlotte, 4 hours away.  Thanks but I'll just pick one up at Home Depot.  They're going for $199.00.  Personally, I prefer new.  In my experience, I've never found any type of smoker/grill on CL that looked good.  Everyone that I've ever seen was not taken cared of well: Rust, extreme dirt...

Might not be your cup of tea, but I've seen absolute miracles in re: to taking an old crusty one & bringing it completely back to pristine condition around here.....that's one of the major activities covered in the threads.....restorations & clean-ups......not tryin' to twist yer arm, but a real deep cleaning will bring these things as close to new as is needed.......

Check out this rehab by Brickout:

Still keep an eye out on the sales boards too......pretty decent & clean can be found.....old style M/T, almost perfect...

Nice Brownie, assembled, never used....

Welcome here & I roundly applaud your enthusiasm:

Thanks for the pictures but I'm only interested in brand spanking new.
Besides, in my area there are no used kettles on Craigslist.

Other than relocating, I can't unders why anyone would ever sell one.
