i guess i need to up the temp a bit and not go indirect.  i think the CI should have been right over to get that brown everywhere.

tasted great, but will add some chunks of stuff in there next go around.

yum!  wasn't dry at all, which i thought it was supposed to be.  it was almost cake like.

no complaints!

I only use kettles with lid bales.

Great cook. They look moist. What's the recipe?

@argentflame i used famous dave's mix, i picked it up at walmart.

mix the whole packet with 1/3 cup of water, 1/3 cup of milk, 1 egg.

mix it up but don't over mix, pour into CI in the kettle roaring at 350-425, uncovered.

forget about it for 20 minutes.

now i went indirect but probably should have gone directly over the coals for less time.  maybe 15 minutes?  totally guessing but that's what i'm trying next time.

the browner ones were closer to being directly over coals, and were still moist and came out of the CI really easily.  shook it upside down and they flopped out.  :D
