BTW, Sonex 28 liter stock pot available in Oz is supposed to be a perfect fit.
Got a link?

I found some!

Joel, if you want one of these pots, I have found a guy that sells them at my usual on Saturday. I'm going to take an SJ down there in the next couple of weeks and verify that it fits and maybe get one. Let me know if you're keen, and I'll try and better our buying position.

Sent from another Galaxy using mental telepathy.
Good luck !
Looking forward to the build !

That straight-walled Sonex pot makes the conversion look OEM.
Wish we had them here.

Our Pot du jour in the States is the Vasconia 32 quart "Tamale Pot".
It has an indent toward the bottom for a strainer and handle covers.

I used the Vasconia for my first build and it was great

I'm always keen to do it again
I'm only 2 or 3 kettles away from being that creepy guy down the street with all the Webers

Excellent job !
Love the sturdy leg kit and lid keeper.

My new SJ has those skinny starling legs !

Great job on the mod, Hogsy!

You converted a Gold to a Gold / Silver hybrid ... I like it!
I guess one could convert a Silver to a Silver with a lid bale?  With some drilling.

Is there a thread that best describes drilling into a kettle / SJ? Thanks.
Q: How do you know something is bull$h!t?
A: When you are not allowed to question it.

I did a Therm Mod thread a few days ago on a 18.5 WSM.
Had some info/pics on drilling.

I take this one camping and found when I'd get to the camp ground the legs had been bent during the travel it happened about three times, so I decided to upgrade the legs and lid holder just makes it easier to move around when the SJ is hot

Now to be referred to as a SJE or Smokey Joe Emerald ;)
SJS could easily be converted, as you say all you would need is a lid bale and gold handle.
